Join us for lunch and enjoy some of the best traditional and vegetarian foods around. Standard deli fare is complemented by a menu full of homemade soups, salads, pasta. Skip the chemicals and preservatives; Jennifer makes the salad dressings and soups from scratch, the beef gets roasted in the oven, even the cookies are homemade. Try the California Grill on rye, with melted cheese, avocado, and honey mustard, or the Vege-burger or Mideastern (with falafel and tahini dressing). Also popular: The Chicken Salad with Caramelized Walnuts, and the Roast Beef and Blue Cheese on Baguette. Really big right now: The grilled eggplant. It's added to a vegetarian sandwich (the Mozzarella Roast); we also put it on the Bacon Mozzarella Sandwich, and in the Italian Medley (a big green salad with avocado and parmesan). Yes, we have all kinds of green salads, from classic Caesar to Spinach with Sweet n' Sour dressing. All with those homemade dressings. Yumm!
Located at The Del Monte Center, on San Pablo Avenue between Hilltop Mall and Old Town Pinole, The New Deli is a thriving local business, established in 1985. Open Monday through Friday 9 to 3 pm, and Saturdays 11 to 2pm.
